Originally from the UK, I started out as a junior at Vodafone when there was one phone per household and paging was still around. During my time with the company I was immersed in product development and innovation as texting, ring tones, private networks and cameras well all introduced. The culture was progressive, and I thrived on career advancement and growth.
I travelled to New Zealand with only a pocket full of pounds and after a short stint working in an Internet cafe (so much fun), I picked up my first Human Resources role at NZSki. It was a winter seasonal, low paid opportunity with minimal people budgets, but I found myself in my element. People loved their jobs, their town and the ski industry and we were able to introduce viable career pathways and sustainable employment in an area that was previously considered transient.
